I don't like people talking through a movie or a TV show. It's disrespectful and obnoxious. And it fills me with (temporary) anxiety.

You don't like family situations then either. 🙃

I don't know of a family that doesn't talk while any movie is going own. 🤣

Even my father talked when movies where going on. And he was the quite one in the family. 😈

@DeWayfarer Well, it's rude, obnoxious, and I don't like it. People who want to talk during times like that should go outside... like and with the smokers.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul You have obviously never been around a big family. 🤣

That would be a impossible situation for people like you.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer The reason for my speaking out is BECAUSE I was surrounded by a family gathering.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul I thought my family it was a big problem. With four siblings and their kids.

Yet believe me it can get a whole lot worse in Hispanic families. My Hispanic sister in-laws family is totally massive. 🤣

@DeWayfarer Well, I don't like it. What's the point of watching a show together?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul It's called "Family-time" for a very good reason. And it's not about the movie!

It's totally about family interactions while watching something in common.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, I'm no introvert and I don't have social anxiety to any great extent mostly, but all that talking, over-talking, insult-teasing should be banned.

@MarkPaul AI analysis of my statement above... 🤣

The Importance of Family Time During Screen Time

Family-time refers to the special moments shared among family members while engaging in activities like watching movies or shows together. This shared experience is significant for various reasons.

Enhancing Relationships

Watching something together fosters conversations, laughter, and even debates over what you're viewing. These interactions strengthen relationships and create lasting memories.

Building Communication Skills

Discussing the plot, characters, or themes enhances communication skills among family members. It encourages everyone, including children, to express their opinions and articulate their thoughts.

Creating Traditions

Regularly setting aside time to watch a specific show or movie can create family traditions. Whether it's movie nights on Fridays or binge-watching a series, these rituals can bring everyone closer.

Teaching Valuable Lessons

Many films and shows contain moral lessons or life lessons that can spark important discussions. Parents can use these moments to teach values or discuss real-life applications of the themes depicted.

Sharing these experiences can truly enrich family bonds.

@DeWayfarer Again with AI to validate yourself? It's literally a misuse and possibly an abuse of AI. Learn the rules.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul AI is a tool! I use it as a tool for clarity for what I mean.

The fact that you don't like it speaks for your desire for only your own opinion.

This is as well points out why you don't like family time. You don't what to hear other opinions.

Including AI!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer I never said I don't like or appreciate family time. And the fact that you equate the abusive use of AI to "family time" speaks volumes.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul And your lack of desiring other opinions other than your own speaks volumes. Especially about AI.

I specifically said that family time isn't about the movie!

The movie is only ancillary to family time.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer OMG. AI is not a "real" person. AI is not your personal friend who needs defending. AI is not an opinion. It is a collection of ideas that others have added to the Internet.

I'm not against AI. I'm against those who use it to validate themselves in an abusive cycle of co-dependence. Honestly, I feel sorry for people who need that kind of validation from a non-sentient application while fooling themselves into thinking they have achieved something because they are using/abusing it.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul And I specifically said as well that AI IS a tool!

AI is ancillary as well! Why it's after my statement. Not before my statement!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer It seems you are using it as a validation buddy... as a sponsor... as a personal and close friend. Try socializing with people and you might find you don't have to be so dependent on a "tool" each time you feel backed into a corner.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul I don't know how many times that I have said I use AI is to valid.

That is what ancillary means! It's secondary! Not the primary point. It's like a MOVIE to bring about further discussion.

You don't want further discussion though. Just like you don't want other speaking during the movie.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, no one who is sane wants people talking through a movie with irrelevant comments.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul Guy everyone would be insane by you then! Think about that!

It actually does happen in most families!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, I think I am speaking for most people and saying out what most people are thinking but are too afraid to say themselves.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul You most certainly are not. You referring to yourself only!

Ask your own family to stop talking and see what they would say, during a movie!

They are not going to stop!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer They're too loud and too stuck in their ways... even the self-absorbed cousins. And they are just looking for a reason to be more insulting.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul That is why you use that time to talk! Family time is about talking to each other.

Not about the movie. It's secondary!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer No, that's not the way it is supposed to work. If you want to have "family time" then organize a time to talk with rules of engagement. What is the point of having a movie playing if the intention is to talk through it. Those are two separate and different activities. What don't you still get?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul You are wrong! There is no rules of engagement in families!

That is why they won't stop talking!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Well, again... I don't like it and don't endorse it.
