I was caught, screamed at, and threatened...
The keyhole to my door was sticking so I sprayed some lubricant into the lock. The male roommates across the hall mentioned they were having the same problem, so I sprayed their lock as well. As they were thanking me, the maintenance guy came by and glared at me. He said I shouldn't be doing that. I didn't know what to say and one of the roommates spoke up and said they asked me to help.
The maintenance guy pointed his finger at me and with a scowl said I was "causing trouble." The roommates said they had to go and asked if I was alright. I managed to nod, yes. I started to walk away too, and the maintenance guy put up his hand and he said, "you are creating a liability problem." I still didn't know what to say, so just stood there. He stared at me... in the eyes. He turned and said, "You kids are all the same. You think you know everything. When you need maintenance, you fill out a form, turn it in at the manager's office, and you wait. Don't do this again."
1. I'm not a kid.
2. I don't think I know everything, but I do know how to unfreeze a lock.
3. I'm not filling out a form for something so simple.
I don't know what to do. I don't want to get him fired or anything, but he shouldn't be so rude, so I'm thinking of filing a complaint on him. Or, maybe I should just let it go. It was pretty intense though. At least I can turn the lock on my door now... and so can the roommates down the hall.
