I was roughed up and beaten down by a cashier...

I went to the store to buy new training shoes, and the cashier complimented me on the purchase (which seemed strange) and then launched into a 7-minute pitch to get me to sign up for a store credit card. I told him I didn't need another credit card, and he insisted I could get it, use it for this purchase for a discount on it, and never use it again. I told him...

Me: "No, I don't think so."
Cashier: "I'm just trying to help you out with an instant discount."
Me: "Yeah, but I don't want another credit card."
Cashier: "Like I said, you don't have to ever use it again."
Me: "Yeah, but I don't want it."
Cashier: "Are you sure...?"
Me: "Um... yeah. Thanks, but I don't want it."
Cashier: "Most people don't turn down a discount."
Me: "Yeah, I guess, but I already know how I want to pay for this."
Cashier: "Okay..." [Disappointed]

I didn't think I was going to get out of the store alive. I was exhausted the rest of the day and felt like I had done something wrong.
