I was literally swarmed by retail employees who surrounded me like vultures getting ready to feast on a fresh kill...

Against my better judgment, I went into a store to buy some new gym clothes (shorts and a few t-shirts). Immediately, I was swarmed with employees insisting to help me. I had no idea what to do or what to say since I didn't need any help, didn't ask for help, and didn't indicate I was wanting any help. My silence only encouraged the over-eager employee to tell me about what was on sale. I imagine I mumbled, "thanks," but I was so overwhelmed with the colossal amount of attention that I don't really know what I said, if anything.

I walked away and I could tell the employee thought I was being rude, but I just wanted to get away from my space being invaded. When I selected what I wanted and was heading to the front of the store to check-out, that employee asked me if I found everything I wanted as he was folding some clothes on the sale table. I held up what I had in my hand and just kept walking. The employee said, "nice," but it sounded like he was saying that sarcastically.

The cashier then repeated his question, "did you find everything?" I had no idea what to say since I had already given her what I wanted to purchase. And she just rang up the shorts and shirts and I paid. I'm sure they both complained about me after I left. It was quite an ordeal.
