I almost got slapped in the face... by a girl at work.

A girl at work who I know casually (not very well), mentioned to me and 2 other people that she was feeling on edge, moody, and like everything was irritating her and then she mentioned some things... deadlines, her manager's attitude, her selfish boyfriend, things like that. Anyway, I was just trying get into the conversation with something lighthearted and I said, "well you're probably just on the rag. Things will get better, I'm sure."

Well, I thought she was going to slap me in the face. I was just trying to be funny. I didn't know she would get so upset. One of the other people (another guy) let out a short laugh, almost a grunt and raised his eyebrows like, Seriously! You said that? The other woman said that was rude. Of course, I apologized. It kind of got awkward, really fast. But I didn't really know what I said was so horrible. I guess I still don't. I was just trying to be funny.

I don't even know why I put so much effort into being part of conversations.
