There is a lot of talk about coercive control in relationships lately

No doubt it is very prevalent.
An observation of mine this morning.
I am at a baseball game. I have been here for 1/2 an hour now. In that time there are two males standing under a tree talking away.
I notice when the guys walk back to the main viewing area he sits in a portable chair. Then a female comes back and says "Hey, that is my chair".
It appears they are a married couple,. She says "Come on, that is my chair. He does not move and she has to stand behind him.
1/2 an hour later he gets up to have a cigarette under the tree. I notice the lady does not sit in the chair.

that's the way it is and women put up with it...

@StygianKohlrabi My first thought was to go over to them and say to him, "That is your wife's chair. Get up and let her sit in it" Create a scene.
Then I thought better of it. She would very likely get a very hard time when they got home.
It is a pity that so many women do not take control of their lives.
@Gusman nah. if the guys anger prone you'd get into a fight. it's best to stay out of it. in the end it's up to her to decide how to deal with it if she even wants to. many women are into dominant men... not that it's OK just the way it is. if he hit her then yes do something.

@StygianKohlrabi You can drag a horse to water but you can’t make the horse drink.

@justanothername Trust is earned. And why the horse won't drink.

There's no trust in such situations when they are constantly afraid. It's a learned thing.
@StygianKohlrabi by dominant I mean in the bedroom

@StygianKohlrabi I'm referring to your initial statement as well as Gus's reply.

What's in the bedroom, let it stay in the bedroom.
@DeWayfarer not sure I understand. that's true about the bedroom but I think these things are telling.

@StygianKohlrabi Not in public.

If it's in public it more of a trust issue. You can't get more public than a baseball game.
