I have no idea what I did wrong...

A woman I kind of know at work was sitting with us in the breakroom and telling us problems she is having with her son who is in high school. She said, jokingly, she doesn't know if she can survive "his high school years." I knew it was a joke because everyone (except for me) kind of laughed. Now, I normally don't try to give my advice, but I said, "he might be feeling the same way as you; you need to ease up." She glared at me and said, "What do you know about it?" I told her she needsl to stop being so critical and take the time to talk to him. Well, she literally exploded and asked me, "how many children have you raised?" I said, "that's not the point." And she went even crazier. The group broke up and everyone, including her went back to work. I was just trying to add to the conversation. I honestly don't know what I did wrong.

Yeah parents don’t take stuff like that well. I learned that as a teen. I got yelled at for the strangest things just trying to stand up for some kids. 😅

@Aidan Ngl... it caught me off-guard. I got no support around the table.

You do the same thing on SW, Bro.

@Bumbles What??? I was just trying to help and get involved in the conversation. She overreacted.

@MarkPaul you’ve always had this blind spot. What can I say.

@Bumbles No. I don't think that's it at all. You're just piling on. I was in the right. I mean maybe I could have been a bit more tactful since even though she said it as a joke I am starting to think she actually was stressed out about it since we were talking about things stressing us out. But, still... she literally exploded for no reason. I was literally an innocent bystander who she disrespected. Hopefully, she will find the courage to apologize to me.
