I wish my parents were interested in their kids.

I’m at a restaurant and there’s a family near by and their son who is probably 18 is talking to his parents about his dorm at college and the parents seem so interested. Just little things like that I get jealous of. And not a mean type of jealousy. Just the type of jealousy that makes me sit and realize our parents wasn’t into us.

Yeah, my childhood had me feeling like an animal in a cage. Sure, I had food and shelter, but a person needs more than that to get by on

@TinyViolins that’s the same feeling I get. And they still try to gaslight us to this day, saying, “Well, we fed you and gave you shelter,” but that’s literally the bare minimum. You’re supposed to provide your kids with food and a roof over their heads! My parents act like they were God’s gift to the world just for doing that, when there’s so much more to parenting than feeding us. You don’t get a trophy for doing the bare minimum. And honestly, I feel like if it had been legal not to feed us, they probably wouldn’t have. They only did it so they wouldn’t go to jail probably.
