I'm not a fan of team-building exercises...
In one of those team-building sessions we have at work (which I don't like), the exercise this month was to (anonymously) describe other members on the team. The results were aggregated for each person (so you don't know who said what) and each individual got their own results. I guess the idea is to see how others perceive us through a set of standardized terms. Now, next month I have to meet one-on-one with the person leading these team-building sessions to discuss how I was described:
1. Helpful
2. Knowledgeable
3. Professional
4. Tends to keep to himself
5. Caustic
I think the first 3 represent me pretty well. I don't know where 4 and 5 come from and they seem contradictory, so I don't really know what I am going to say. Besides, I would think "keeping to myself" would be a positive thing in terms of productivity.
I really just want to do the work and not get bogged down on all this superfluous, gossipy type of interaction from people who tend to be small-minded, petty, and think they know how everyone should act to conform to some kind of political standard. I'm sure that flat-chested girl who is always on my case had something to do with getting me described as caustic.
I'm not looking forward to that one-on-one meeting.
