I was misidentified and subjected to intolerable conditions... by a little kid

I was in line at the checkout counter and some kid was chatting it up with me. I didn't really appreciate it, but that was okay, I guess When his mother who was in front of me asked him what he was doing, he said he was just talking to someone, pointed at me, and referred to me as a boy. His mother looked at me, smiled, and said to him, "well, that's a man, honey." Perhaps she finally registered my displeasure. But, the kid insisted I was a boy. It was very unsettling and I regretted talking to him in the first place.

I don't think this has anything to do with social anxiety.

When I was about 22 or 23 and commuting to an office job by subway car, some young guy in a blazer struck up a conversation with me, casual, friendly, not flirtatious.
Looking back on it, I decided that he was probably about
15, taking the subway to school in his school uniform, apparently assuming I about his age!
