I took the bus today and was literally cornered into a random conversation without a means for escape, so I had to "eject."

I got on the bus, took my seat and the person in front and the person to the side of me were engaged in a conversation. The guy next to me smiled at me and before I knew tried to drag me into the conversation. They were talking about cycle racing and the guy in front (an older guy) was talking about his warm-up process. The guy to the side of me said he doesn't believe in doing a warm-up and then turned to me... "what is your feeling about warming-up? I didn't know what to say, so I got up and off the bus, 3 stops ahead of where I needed to actually get off. I was actually late for work, but ejecting seemed like the only way out.

Mark, I'm saying this nicely. You should really consider some therapy because this sounds like extreme social anxiety. Perceiving normal social interaction as a threat isn't doing you any favours.

@HijabaDabbaDoo At most, I have a trace of social anxiety. I thought I made that clear a long time ago. Yeah... maybe back in the day I had a technical case of social anxiety where I was literally unable to interact in social situations. That's not the case now.
@MarkPaul you know the only way to overcome something is to actually accept something is there to overcome. You're replaying the same stories to yourself. Good luck
Wait what? Whatd you tell your boss? Somebody tried to talk to you so you were late for work?

@BlueVeins No...

@MarkPaul Okay, that's good. I don't really know what to say. I guess if something good comes out of this conversation, I'm happy, even if it's infinitesimal on its own.

@BlueVeins Well, I am going to keep working on it.

@deadgerbil That's not true. I am a man of action. I was confronted with a problem and I took the hard action to resolve it.

@MarkPaul Next time say: "I like turtles."
@MarkPaul You sound like Theodore Roosevelt
