I was wrangled into a conversation by a cashier overseer in the self-checkout lane...

The point of self-checkout is to avoid the small talk hindrances of regular checkout, but the roaming overseer seemed to attach herself to me and my transactions as she asked me if I needed any help, picked up my items and asked me about them, and excessively smiled. She had bright red lipstick and a touch of blue in her hair.

I had no idea what to say as I wasn't expecting so much interaction in a self-checkout lane. I mean, what's the point of self-checkout if it comes with the same burden as full checkout?

You never have any idea what to do with basic social interactions. Talk about being a dramatic crybaby

@deadgerbil Well, it was a self-service checkout so I had no way to prepare for such in-depth interaction. Don't you get it? I mean the point is, it was totally unexpected. And, it's NOT like I didn't know what to do. I guess, yeah, I didn't know what to say with so much interaction going on. It was overwhelming. But, it's not like I didn't have any idea at all. It wasn't the way you are saying.

@deadgerbil And, it was beyond being "basic."

@deadgerbil Stop, he's an Alpha

so much interaction going on

The poor alpha male couldn't handle it, crybaby Mark Paul

@deadgerbil Well, it's not like there was that much interaction. It was just that it was unexpected during self-checkout. I'm sure that would be the case for everyone. It caught be off-guard. In case you don't know, self-checkout is supposed to not require any interaction. And, that's now what I got.

@deadgerbil Well, I think I have made it clear I don't appreciate greeters because their nature is intrusive, obnoxious, and deceptive. If someone needs help, they can ask. Customers don't appreciate someone standing over them deciding if it "looks like" they need help.

@MarkPaul go to the store and complain to the manager if you feel so strongly about this. Maybe they will amend their policy and training to accommodate dramatic people like yourself. But instead you cry online while trying to act tough
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil Well, I'm not trying to get anyone fired or anything crazy like that. I just wish they would be more aware and respectful.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil And, I'm not dramatic.

@Tumbleweed I'm not the one who is drama-prone. That would be you.
Tumbleweed · F
@MarkPaul Yes I cry & make a huge scene when somebody has the gall to corner me and say hi.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Tumbleweed Well, that's an exaggeration.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul you know something about exaggerating

@Tumbleweed hi....👀

@MarkPaul You really do need therapy.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil I report what happens... nothing more and nothing less. What possible reason would I have to exaggerate? Think for once.
Tumbleweed · F
@MarkPaul You have no reason to exaggerate, we ALL know you lack social skills & need to stay in your bubble and let door dash ride by and sling your order to you so that you won't be traumatized into saying "thank you"
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Tumbleweed Well, maybe some of that is true, but if it is it would be just because I'm not in a communication mode on a given day. We call those isolated incidents and they don't necessarily represent a pattern by which to judge. And, I don't lack social skills... exactly.
Tumbleweed · F
@MarkPaul Ok. So do you journal, by any chance? That helps with anxiety.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Tumbleweed Yes...
Tumbleweed · F
@MarkPaul Did it help?
