At the grocery store, an employee came up to me smiling and said, "you shop here a lot." This has never happened before; I had no idea how to react.

I mean, I do go to the same store on fairly regular schedule, but I didn't know why he would notice. I literally had no idea what to say and basically just stood there and he continued to smile and walk away. I don't really mind; he seemed friendly. It just seems so unusual.

Not that unusual. I worked at a grocery store for 12 years. Some people came in daily, some weekly, some every 2 weeks.
I live in a huge city of millions and yet I was used to seeing many of the same people. Some were quiet and we never struck up a conversation yet I still remember many of their faces years later
That random guy who saw you might be extroverted and just said something to you, no biggie.

@REMsleep Yeah, I guess but it was just so unexpected. I don't mind really. I'm not saying he did anything wrong. I wasn't even upset about it. It just seemed so shocking. I was still able to go on with my shopping and the rest of my day.
