Try to understand that the amount of hurt that you caused is going to match the the amount of resentment that you're receiving.
Empathy.
Although I do believe in second chances.
I think you need to be persistent with it. Show that you are adamant in the changing of your ways and that you are sorry for them.
Communication.
You need to talk about it.
Some clarity and closure.

Thankyou! Some great points there. I have not been very good at apologising or talking about the things that I did, preferring to pretend that they didn’t happen. It’s difficult because I’m so embarrassed, but I need to face up to it. Being on here has helped as it feels much easier to talk about it all and most people have been very nice (and the ones that weren’t, well I probably deserved what they said to me.) @Umile
