At the gym, I had no problem talking to one guy I know from class, but when his friends joined us (2 I knew; 1 I didn't) it became too much of a crowd

and I barely was able to speak let alone add anything to the conversation. So, it's some progress, but an awareness I still am operating under limitations. I laughed along, I did add a few one-word confirmations ("yeah," "right," etc.), but I pretty much was on the sidelines and just wanted to get out of that group conversation.

I was finally relieved when the one guy I was originally talking to started to leave and I expertly used that as my cue to move away as quickly as possible. I'm not even sure if I said anything or just walked away.

I guess you could say I still have that trace of social anxiety when it comes to larger groups.

I'm glad to hear you got some improvements. Cant really say much when all other 3 know eachother. Unless that friend tries to get u involved in the convo, then the polite thing is to say: it was nice seeing you and leave them have their convo.

@MarkPaul I used to have that too. I'd stay till the last person and just stand there.

@Dan193 Well, I already told you what I did to exit.

@MarkPaul Yeah you did better. Good job 👍
keep working on it.. or as i say
fake it till ya make it..
you can get better by just being out and working on it by talking to others..

@SW-User Well, I only have a trace of social anxiety. And, I don't think I over-thought it. I'm just aware of what happened and was able to acknowledge it.

I do the same with the confirmations just to let people know I still exist lol. I can't keep crowds attention because I start overthinking it.

@MartinTheFirst Yeah, exactly. I can handle it with 1 person, but as the group gets larger it becomes harder to manage it all. I need to figure out a way to stretch my focus in real-time.
