I experienced the very definition of Irony Last week while at home.

Every morning in the summer I make my coffee and go sit on the front porch to enjoy the sun coming up over the trees and drinking my coffee. I will spray any wasp that I see with wasp spray and swat flies that bother me with the fly swatter.

So, this being a daily morning routine. Two weeks ago, for three consecutive mornings I went out and sat in one of the two lawn chairs on my front porch and drank my coffee spraying wasps and swatting flies while a praying mantis was seated on the chair beside me looking for his breakfast. The praying Mantis seemed to stare at me like what "F" "I need to eat you know". So, on the fourth consecutive morning when I walked out and sat down looking over at the chair beside me for the praying mantis. I saw the real definition of irony. The praying Mantis was seated on the wasp spray can as if to say "Look I got this, chill out". See the pic below.

When I lived in an apartment complex there was a lot of those large red wasps that would make nests way up near the top of the 2nd floor. Sometimes I would see dead ones on the ground near the flowers that I’d planted. One afternoon I watched two grand-daddy long legs run out from the flowers and tackle a red wasp that was gathering mud for it’s nest. One long leg held the wasp down while they other got to drink it’s blood. The ground stayed damp around that area because I would water my flowers every day.
Praying Mantis are awesome insects. They are excellent hunters and just wonderful to watch.

Wow that spray can knock out bugs 25ft away. You must have great eyesight!

@Majorlatency I have come home one to many times carrying in an arm load of Grocery's and had a wasp that started a new nest while I was gone to fly down and sting me in the neck/throat, chest, or arms. I hate those damn things. And they are about an inch long with a distinctive wing beat noise in identifying them flying, so they are not hard to see, and I love distance kill shots with them. Not to mention hosing their new nest sites down as well.

@SW-User I really like them too. I hope the little guy did not pick up any residue from the can because I have not seen it since the fourth morning. I love watching dragon flies by my pond too, they are way cool too.

@Stereoguy No. I think it was a "Damn it let me eat them" Type statement
