Lived with an uncle and his wife. One weekend we were having company from out of town, my aunt’s sister and daughter and a couple other relatives….and my aunt told us not to be tattling on each other and to behave. I went outside to play after the company came and my youngest sister decided since we were told not to tattle that she could get by with doing things to me and I wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it. She walked up to me and started hitting me like a little heathen, she was in 3rd grade and I was in 4th grade. I told her to stop and she continued as though I had no power to stop her. I told her I was going in the house and would tell on her. So I slowly walked to the house and saw the homemade cookies on a plate that my aunt had laid out on a table. I took one and tasted it and told my aunt they were good. I went back outside and told my sister that I had told on her and that our aunt was mad and she wanted her to go inside and tell her what she did. She walked into the living room with me behind her to witness this & she started snubbing & crying and told off on herself telling what she did and that she was sorry. My aunt didn’t get mad and had a grin on her face like she knew that I knew how to get around the rule of not tattling on each other. I didn’t get in trouble and I think they got a good laugh about it. My sister left me alone after that.
