Have you ever had a near death experience?

What did you see or feel? I've read stories about people seeing patterns of lights, or having a feeling of warmth and peace.

I nearly drowned in the river once, trying to save my friend. After the initial panic, i remember being at the bottom of the river looking up at the light coming down thinking how peaceful this was and that maybe i should just stay here and not try to get to the surface. Then parts of my life that i didn't even remember flashed before my eyes and it was so clear. The next thing i remember is i'd made it to the bank and all these people were helping me and i was completely numb and couldn't even talk.
In 2008, during abdominal surgery, I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, stopped breathing and flatlined, briefly. I saw, heard, felt nothing. The only thing I remember was air being forced into my lungs and feeling like I was drowning. Before that happened it was just like the deepest possible sleep imaginable. If that’s what death really feels like, I think I’ll be okay when it does come.

had 3. I don't really remember much tbh. Just going in and out of consciousness for the most part but that is still a blur.
The first one though I hit my head really hard in a car crash and basically the whole thing is a blur except for the few seconds before the impact

@Slade but maybe there is nothing else beyond this and what people have said to see is just their brains doing that. Our brains can be very good at making us see things that are not really there. Just a thought anyway
@ZashaKitty Good point. But if someone is pretty much brain dead like we are implying here, their brain won't be processing anything 🤷‍♀️.

@latinbutterfly If they are brain dead, that is what I would assume
Mine was just complete and total darkness, like I was addicting a void.

Yeah, there was a weird sense of peace about it. I wouldn’t say my life flash before my eyes, but there was this sort of ‘rapid review’, realizing I felt at peace about how I’d chosen to live my life

Mentally yes.

Physically no.

Earlier this year there were complications with my labor while preparing to give birth to my son. My body wasn’t reacting to the pain well. My heart rate dropped significantly & they nearly did an emergency c section thinking I wasn’t going to make it.

I had some kind of medication drip during this & wasn’t aware I was possibly going to die. I remember I couldn’t open my eyes but was aware of all the voices around me. I think I was hallucinating because I felt like I was walking through memories of my life. But not like an old movie just the places I’d been. Random stuff like climbing out of playground equipment I knew from childhood & walking down a school hallway.

All I know is once I could see again I saw my husband first & he looked so stressed. I thought at the time it was because of my crying from the pain I was experiencing. But in reality it was because he’d just had to fill out waivers & take over my medical decision making.

My husband nearly died after losing too much blood from an attack at work as a young man. He didn’t see dead family or anything but said he did feel very calm & not in pain or worried.

Did something happen with you?
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit Oh my 😯. I was reading some stories on AskReddit and was curious. I've never had a near death experience, though, luckily.

@latinbutterfly oh yes I think I asked something about ghost stories for a similar reason once
I don't know how close I was to it.
I remember it was like falling down a black hole and a strange numbness and then being pulled back to being awake.
When I went through them, all I saw was pretty colours, glimpses of my life, if pretty colours is all I ever see forever after I go, sounds very peaceful.

Yes but not the typical accident or medical kind of ordeal, I was kidnapped and thought this is how it ends as I was going through it all

Yep. Legs were so wobbly thought I'd never make it to the fridge
