Good post. Even as a paleoconservative, I know that the whole 'machisimo' thing is wrong. There is a need for sensitivity and appreciation for beauty and gentleness. The anima and animus need balance for a healthy outlook on life.

Gotta love the very notion of what constitutes as a real man. “Real men don’t do this, real men don’t do that…” By that logic, a real man is an insecure man who abides by what others deem socially acceptable rather than being true to themselves. 🤣

That sort of language already shows the speaker/writer likely is making overly-broad statements, the kind which are intended to "other", judge, condemn those not meeting the criterion/-a set forth, and bolster, promote, bless those who do (presumably including the originator).

Unless someone is simply stating a definition (e.g., the universal affirmative of logic: "all mammals are animals"), the broad brush statements are typically ones where a counterexample can be found, often readily.

I'm a man, so I'm told, but I find that description odd.
I understand a "real gentleman" a "real lady", but a "real woman"?
I mean real as opposed to what?
But then I suppose you can be a "real" anything if there are fakes out there?
