Have you been called stupid for asking questions?

It's always been the case since I was little up until university: asking questions is seen as 'odd' or 'dumb'. I don't think asking any kind of questions has any bearing on intelligence.

I'm just a curious person and I always want to know what's behind something; like Einstein (e.g. Brownian motion) and Socrates (the 'why' behind everything). Good teaching is done with all the why's explained.

Has anyone else been through this problem in their life?
