What were you scared of as kid?

I hated, and I mean hated needles. I think that I might have had a phobia of them, until I was 10. In fact, this is similar to how I would react to having to get a shot...

I was scared of Santa Claus and the hell.

My grandaunt always told me that Santa Claus will come and slap me, put me in his big sac and take me away from my home and I always was released when the day passed and he didn麓t take me away.

Furthermore I was scared a lot of the hell because my grandaunt told me stories about stories, what it is for a terrible place and that potentially I will be there one day. 馃槙

@Loretta78 My cousin's kid was terrified of Santa. Understandably, she didn't want a stranger coming into the house while they all slept. So my cousin said that Santa would leave the gifts outside.

@Loretta78 It's a pity that you couldn't enjoy Santa's visit at all because of your great aunt's nonsensical and unnecessary exaggerations. And how evil of her to tell you these horror stories about hell. I will never understand why it is necessary to make an innocent child so afraid of a place that does not even exist.

@Loretta78 I don't understand why an adult would tell a kid that they are going to hell. I guess that's one way to scare a kid into obeying them.

@RobinPhoenix
@SubstantialKick I am not sure. But potentially sometimes she was not aware of it HOW MUCH I feared that. And especially the nonsense with the hell - I think she really BELIEVED herself in this stuff. 鈽癸笍

@RobinPhoenix Hell is the first thing I learned about god and religion. I didn't worry about it so much when I was a kid. I'm not sure of anything these days.
SW-User
@SubstantialKick Exactly. My parents wanted me to conform to their beliefs. In my case, it worked -- not because I feared hell which I figured was a long way off then, but because I wanted my parents approval so much.

@SW-User Growing up is not always a blessing. In matters of faith, life experience always brings more doubts and more questions than answers.

@RobinPhoenix I totally agree. Every day of my life, I feel I know less and less.
