If only it was that simple.
awards are given to councils for what we think is recycling but in fact the awards are for "having a system in place", in other words the population sorts out their waste and the council spends millions on two collections a week only for it all to be stuffed into containers and shipped to(originally china) Turkey.

Yeah but it makes councils look good that they "recycle" stuff. Even though it's been a con from the beginning.
