@MissLlyn it depends on where you live. The law defines abuse, and in some places, it is abuse. Not where I live, but some places full on don't allow it.

@AmmieBell I mean hitting your child silly is wrong, leaving welps and bruises is wrong but a firm spank isn't abuse.

@MissLlyn in some places it is. Some places outlaw spanking all together. As defined by law in those places, it is abuse, which is what it ultimately comes down to rather than personal opinion (since opinions will always vary). Personally, I don't believe it is. But I'm not the one who defines it on a large and legal scale

@MissLlyn I will say that my mom preaches spanking even to this day, and I never once felt abused. Upset maybe, but that's normal when you're punished. But my mom is one of the kindest and most generous people I know

@MissLlyn Hitting someone with a belt is assault. Fact. And it is abuse. You wouldn't do that to an adult apart from consentual situations like S & M...so why is it okay to assault a child like that?

@MissLlyn I usually find the "it never did me any harm" trope to be the worst. I had an uncle who was at school when caning was allowed. I remember him saying that some teachers didn't consider caning to be enough. Some did commit assault and kids then weren't listened to. He told me he was assaulted (smacked across the face) on two occasions simply because the teacher was shit at his job and lost control of his temper at the slightest thing. And that was when the cane was available.

@jackieash because they didn't smack me hard or beat me raw? sometimes you can't control the kid and a spank shuts them up and behaves. worked for most of my cousins and me when I acted like a shit.
