Good.. it’s evil to demonise it and give participation awards to everyone..

It's good.
But the ability to be a good sportsman is important when a person is competitive. Or it becomes bad.

A little competition shouldn't hurt much but best not to take things too seriously.

Seriously? The aggressor always wins.

I don’t what you’re talking about. I don’t compete. I do my own thing. @Frank52

I hope you didn't think that the term 'loser' was in any way aimed at you. I was making a comment about losers generally and I have no reason to think you are one.

Good as long as it is in the right circumstances and forum
Northerner · 70-79, M
It is good. This is part of life.

I think competition is healthy to a certain degree. That point is while the competitive event is in progress, I.e., the game, contest, or race is being held. It’s natural to want to do your best and win. However, you have to be able to let it go, and accept defeat or lackluster performance if that’s what the outcome was. You shouldn’t dwell or be a sore loser. That is where it becomes unhealthy.

Little of both

It's great if your not a toxic person to begin with.
Frank52 · 70-79, M
Good only if you can handle winning or losing with the same equanimity and don't have your whole ego and ability to relate to people wrapped up in the outcome.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
On balance, bad.
Be competitive all you want but if the decision making is not in your hands....what's the point ?

Spoiledbrat · F
That depends. Is it a competition? If not, no.
Reject · 26-30, M
Not if you can't handle losing.
LyricalOne · F
Yes.

Good

Depends on the circumstances. When there’s nothing at stake, nothing to be won or lost, having a competitive nature can be a disadvantage.
When the goal is to inspire all parties to up their game, then it's a very good thing.

Good until you become an insufferable arsehole about it

It's a good thing....unless you're a dick about it... I can be a dick about it😬
