I was born on a farm...later lived on a rural acreage. When we’d have too many green beans or whatever in our garden would call up people and ask if they wanted the surplus...they’d always say “Are they picked?”...stopped asking. We tilled the soil, planted the seeds, hoed the plants & made sure they had plenty of water & then no one wants to pick the veggies.

@MellyMel22 That question implied that they would take the stuff if it was picked, washed, bagged and brought to their doorstep. They only lived about 3 blocks away so it’s not like it would cost them gas money either.

@MellyMel22 this was in the 1960’s...so many people are too lazy to cook from scratch that many wouldn’t even take veggies if it was delivered to them.
