What do you do when you hear something fall in the middle of the night while you are in bed?(both)

Happened last night. Something fell on the floor while I was in bed watching "The Wire". Got up to check and could find nothing.

I listen for more sounds then go back to sleep if there aren't any which has always been the case. Thanks for the question, it reminded me to ask my hub if he's heard a knock when alone in the garage as I recently have... he has not.

If it wakes me up, I get up and go to check what happened. If I don't sleep yet and I don't assume there could be damages, I do nothing.
