My life is not what the fiction stories tend to be about, so I can't agree with you entirely. I would say that my love is forever, and I'm looking for "pure love," but there's no guarantee a relationship can last forever... Even if love never fades... I idealize a true partner, someone who would honestly and genuinely put in equal effort and care, even in hard times, as long as they're able and willing. The desire and need for closeness are definitely there, for me--I want a soulful, monogamous relationship. And I do feel a bit desperate, because this seems like such a scarce resource.

@lovelywarpedlemon my usage of the word fictional was to carry across the point that the love which you are describing is scarce. Just making sure my question is not losing its intent here

I've come to believe that most love is a feeling of possession. That desperate desire to be with someone, the jealousy if they are with another. I don't think the fictional type really lasts, but I've come across that blind all-consuming impulse twice.

I’ve given up on that. I left it too little, too late. Maybe we have divided and conquered enough till there is no love left on this planet.
