46C in dry heat and also 43C with 85% Humidity which was worse. The only time I've nearly fainted!
Travelbug56-60, F
@MrChristian ha ha yes. Only the lucky ones had carports or a tree to park under and the cars all had vinyl seats. I remember reading in the Northern Territory news that the temperature dropped to 16 in Darwin and locals were suffering as most didn't own a cardigan!!!
MrChristian56-60, M
16 Degrees!! Shops would be selling out of blankets and woollen jackets!!!
Travelbug56-60, F
@MrChristian I doubt many shops stocked many. I will see if I can find this archived NT story and send it to you as the locals comments were so funny.

130 degrees (54 Celsius) in Death Valley CA. I win by the looks of everybody else's temps here. My eyeball has fried there lol.
Travelbug56-60, F
@Mguinm gee that is hot. I've only heard of it getting that hot in Pakistan
Mguinm51-55, F
@Travelbug I hope to never feel that kind of heat again. Closest thing was Phoenix Arizona in the summer. Yikes!
Travelbug56-60, F
@Mguinm I understand. I live in the UK now as it's a much milder climate.

48.6 degrees celcius, February 2009 and that鈥檚 when we had the black Saturday bushfires.
Travelbug56-60, F
@SW-User gosh that's hot and the fires would of pushed the temperature up even more.
SW-User
@Travelbug the fires were spread across the Dandenong ranges. Black spur and all around Melbourne鈥檚 northern and eastern outskirts, I lived in the south western outskirts at the time and the sky was orange wth a greyish haze, looked like hell on earth pretty much.

Picklebobble256-60, M
Oh man. The summer of 1976 !

25 days straight, the temperature hit at least 26*C/80*F !
32*C/90*F at it's highest
Picklebobble256-60, M
@OwBee1 Hey we're only 1041 miles from the Arctic circle !
26 is hot here !
Picklebobble256-60, M
@Travelbug mass drought everywhere; fire appliances couldn't do their thing and the army had to requisition water from other places; and a lot of folk died because they couldn't handle it.
Travelbug56-60, F
@Picklebobble2 I can imagine. I recall it being 35 in London about 15 years ago and I went shopping and many shops had no air conditioning and you could see many people looking unwell and others giving them water.

I think 32 C. Around 89 F.

WOW.. That's 113 Fahrenheit for me.. WHERE?
Mine is 110 in Phoenix Arizona, and the woman I was with lost her shoe in the airport parking lot (high heel melted into the asphalt) while we were walking to our rental car. I had to carry her..

That is very hot!

@SW-User I suppose many kept working in the heat and got heat exhaustion, while the tourists swam in the pool and drank lots. Often the elderly die in extreme weather too.
SW-User
@Travelbug theres a tribe somewhere, middle East maybe Africa they have evolved to cope really well in extreme heat, they harvest salt from dry salt beds in the desert, thier core body temperatures reach well above what an average person can survive, can't remember much detail. Amazing though.
Travelbug56-60, F
@SW-User yes I've heard of them. There's the sea gypsies that literally live in the sea and can dive underwater for several minutes.
ASouthernGentleman31-35, M
