The sick part is that my family's dark sense of humor would include doing that without any dementia. Most likely, we would make disparaging remarks, kinda like a Festivus event.

Yes its even better, sometimes "in real life" i have a hard time because most people do not share that sense of humour and ive often made a joke in bad taste
