Camping in Minnesota 4 years ago.. my mom is talking with my dad on a pay phone , I'm standing right next to her and my sisters. A trashbin a few yards away on other side of road. 2 bears come out of the woods and casually walk right by us, on the way to look for food in the trash.. if I wasn't to busy shitting my pants, I could of reached out and touched one.
We did not know what to do.. run? Stand still? Yell? 10 minutes pass before they bore with the trash.. look at us as if we are stupid and lazily move off into the woods...

@Deadcutie Right on Mom. :)
Might be something you want to look up and learn what to do for next time. Black bears really don't want anything to do with people. They're not even big meat eaters. Usually just yelling will drive them away. But if people freak out and run they can sometimes see that as prey behavior. So staying still was the right call AND you got a good story out of it.
