Can you regulate your emotions? Or do they usually drown you?

If so, how do you regulate your emotions?

I try to, but it's not always easy.

The first step for me is determining where that emotion is coming from, or what's causing it in that moment.

Then trying to rationalize with it from there.

@caccoon Yes, sometimes i try to find what's causing it, but if it's vague, i let them drown me.

@blueumbrella That's when it's hard, isn't it? When it just feels like everything is overflowing into one big, uncomfortable mess.

When that happens, i turn to exercise and exhaustion. Which I know is sometimes hard to do when these feelings make you have zero motivation sometimes.

@caccoon yes, its like a tornado you can't escape. i used to use exercise as a way too, but haven't turned to exercise in a while. I think i need to again, exercise does help a lot. Usually i turn to writing and listening to music that somehow expresses how i feel and sometimes crying a lot if i'm alone.

@blueumbrella All of those things are excellent!! Another thing that's helped me immensely is guided meditation. I use Headspace for ten minutes a day. Or more than once if it's a bad day. Incredibly good for calming nerves...

I'm sorry things are rough right now for you. Mental health can take a lot of maintenance. Hugs! ♡
