My kind of temperature. I could picture myself living there 😉

No need to be in the Alps when I can do mountain climbing in the flat lands of Australia. Seems much less dangerous but just as strenuous 🏔

@Stephie Australia does have ski fields...anyway a short flight to Aotearoa for better ones. 🤣
Stephie · F
@KiwiBird True, whereas, I have a different definition of "short flight". Those would be no longer than 30 minutes. The shortest flight from your place to CHC is over 4 hours and about the same to AKL. Talk about being short 🫢
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Stephie The return flight West is 2.5 hours shorter 🤣
Stephie · F
@KiwiBird Still, that would put me right in the shark infested Pacific ocean. Water skiing instead of snow skiing.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Stephie No it wouldn't. Time Zones

@Stephie @KiwiBird The perception of long versus short flights varies dramatically based on whether you live in civilization or in the middle of nowhere!!! 😉

@sarabee1995 Welcome back... to civilization. Hope you had a great time while some of us were freezing certain parts off.

I am not sure our Southern hemisphere lady will agree with your statement. The 2 oceans bordering the coastlines have indeed a lot of places in the middle of nowhere 🫢

@Stephie I'm not back yet. We're just chillin' this evening. We've gone out dancing almost every night here so this evening is a rest and relaxation evening. 😁

@sarabee1995 Please don't read the posts past 13 January. You may not like my comment on today's post. Give me time to remove my answer to that nasty Australian ambassador question by Lady Kiwi.

I would like to remain in your good books 😉
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@Stephie I saw the comment. You are still in my good book. I'm a lot harder to shake off than that. 🫂
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 I live on the edge of South Australia the driest state on the driest inhabited continent. Barely civilised. However it is also the only free settled State like Aotearoa. Not a Convict Settlement like the rest of Australia of the East Coast of America.

@sarabee1995 Australia only started taking Convicts after you threw the British out and obviously Britain had nowhere to left to put them. Surely you are aware of your Convict past.....or have conveniently forgotten.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 In the 18th century over 25% of British immigrants to the US were convicts up to 120,000 but numbers vary. Destinations mainly Maryland and Virginia (the Chesapeake colonies. The convicts were sold on indentured terms of 7-14 years and basically became white slaves, many were Irish. It appears numbers have been down played in many papers and range from 50-150,000.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@KiwiBird Ohhhh ... Down there. Yes, I was aware of the convict past of the mid-Atlantic, which (I suppose 🙄) is still part of the East Coast.

Being a typical northeasterner / New Englander, I subconsciously claimed exclusive rights to the term East Coast for my own beloved shoreline where we descend from the religious fanatics of the Plymouth Colony. 🤣🤣🤣

@sarabee1995 Very precious aboout the Plymouth Brethren then. 🙏
