It’s weird to think how evolution made some animals twice

Dolphins and ichthyosaurs, giant squids and colossal squids, hedgehogs and echidnas, thylacines and canines.

Convergent evolution is what it’s called. Where evolution is just like “You know, what? This formula worked the first time. Let’s do it again.” Sure, none of them are ever exactly the same, but pretty close to where they can at least appear identical.

There's two bird species that live in Africa and Australia which look eerily similar to each other.

Turns out they both eat from the same tree that lived around the area where Australia and Africa split apart.
