My only plan is relaxing by the pool. My flags are proudly displayed in remembrance of all those who were lost in service defending our freedom!! 🇺🇸

@skmokisses
When was the USA invaded where servicemen and women were lost defending your freedom?

@LordShadowfire
I think Memorial Day should also honor the 60,000 surviving US draft dodgers of the Vietnam War who exercised their right to life and liberty. 🇺🇸

@swirlie Considering Vietnam was such a BS war and came at such a high cost, I think you're right.
@LordShadowfire
Would it surprise you to learn that I speak with Vietnam draft dodgers in their mid-70's about twice a month up in Canada, who never went back to the US?

@swirlie Not in the slightest. I know there's a permanent population up there.
@LordShadowfire
The ones I speak to don't believe me when I tell them they can go back home with no questions asked.

@LordShadowfire @swirlie We clearly have a difference of opinions. If you were looking to solicit some sort of political debate or conversation I am not interested.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@skmokisses I actually wasn't trying to debate you. I was simply explaining why I'm afraid to put up the flag of my country.
@skmokisses
No debate intended, just trying to figure out why you said
My only question to you was, when was America's freedom compromised to the point where US Servicemen and women lost their lives in service of defending America's freedom? Just a simple question. You must know what you're talking about to be making a statement like this.

@LordShadowfire It is unfortunate that you feel displaying your flag is anything other than to symbolize national identity, patriotism, and unity
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@swirlie Whether you did or didn't I still don't feel the need to explain myself to you or anyone else regarding my comment on how I chose to spend my Nation's holiday.

@LordShadowfire You're cute! 🙄
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@skmokisses I hope you know I didn't mean that seriously. I know fully well what you meant, but the phrasing made it sound like, "I don't have to explain to you peasants!" But I do know what you mean. The internet can be exhausting. You can state your opinion on literally anything, and someone out there will want to fight you.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire Yeah, if you knew me, you would know there was ZERO undertone to my comment.
@skmokisses
No one has asked you to explain how you chose to spend your Nation's holiday! You've completely missed the point of my question if that's all you got out if it.
My question asked,
I asked this because I cannot recall if or when the last time was that the US has ever been invaded by some adversary, other than Japan bombing Pearl Harbor in 1942 where a half dozen US Navy ships were destroyed while anchored in a maintenance facility and subsequently sunk in 30 feet of water with nobody on board those ships at the time.
What you're not understanding is that during the Vietnam war alone, 58,000 US Service Personnel were lost in a 17 year US occupation of south Vietnam and NONE of their presence in Vietnam had anything whatsoever to do with defending America's freedom.
In Afghanistan, over 20,000 US Service Personnel were lost in an equally stupid ordeal that lasted close to the same length of time, again having nothing whatsoever to do with defending America's freedom.
If those lost Service Personnel were not defending America's freedom, then what were they doing there?
That is why when you said...
With that in mind, what then were you commemorating remembrance of on Memorial Day if you could not have been in remembrance of those who lost their lives defending your freedom, when in fact they were not?
The preservation of America's freedom had nothing to do with the US military being in those foreign countries in the first place.

, it is clear to me that you do not understand why the US had embroiled itself in battle in a foreign country that had no beneficial relevance to the well-being of the USA, which is why those US Service Personnel in question did not die in defense of America's freedom.With that in mind, what then were you commemorating remembrance of on Memorial Day if you could not have been in remembrance of those who lost their lives defending your freedom, when in fact they were not?

@swirlie This is not the first time you have chosen to specifically target me in the comment section. That is why I chose NOT to answer your ridiculous question. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my knowledge of my nations history.....and I definitely DO NOT need a history lesson from you. Furthermore, I will no longer dignify your comments with a response. Rather I prefer to block you so that I no longer have to see You or your comments.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@skmokisses Defensive, aren't we?
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire Somehow my choosing not to engage is 'defensive' ?!?!?! Interesting.
Others posted the about displaying flags yet this user chose mine specifically to go after. Why do you think that is. So, yeah, I'm gonna defend myself when I feel it is necessary!!

@skmokisses I don't see an attack on you before you became upset, honestly.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire This user has targeted my comments before ..... so yeah, I might have a bad taste in my mouth.
