but, then did you eventually get to buy the land, built the cabin and enjoy life up the mountain?
VTinlandsea · 56-60, M
@Boeing We did, not the spot we wanted, but it's just as nice

@VTinlandsea this is my take with my life, I always believe that a "no" to a direction is made for there is some unfinished business that if I were to follow through with that direction ... it wouldn't be sustainable?
So some block occurs until I'm done.
That isn't to say your feelings aren't valid of course. Maybe talk to your sister about it? Express it, take it off your chest?

I think this is what is eating you, bud: “That was just one of many things that went out the window when my sister decided she "needed" to plan the wedding.”
You didn’t stand up to her, but my intent is not to shame. Maybe deal with that, though.

@Bumbles There's nothing "not to get", me and my wife were both working two jobs and had very little free time. My sister took it on herself to invite people, arrange the food, the music everything. We didn't know what was going on behind the scenes until we showed up at the venue expecting just a very few of our closest family members and was greeted with over a hundred people......that I was expected to pay for their meals, and drinks (this was supposed to be non alcohol). Believe me I hit the roof!

@VTinlandsea Like a surprise party? So, the idea was no one would tell you?
VTinlandsea · 56-60, M
@Bumbles No I think the idea was "we were too busy to plan a real wedding" so my sister gave us the kind of wedding that "people would be expecting" I guess that means big and stupidly expensive.

I am very sorry. This is the reason I don't entertain family members.
Maybe too late for you, but one way to side step that type incursion onto what should be your turf is with a destination wedding ... announced after it's set in stone.
