Tuesday evening musings.

Back in the mid to late 90's, I came across this televion pastor named Rod Parsley.now at the time, he was holding these crusades in various cities here in the states. There were a couple other pastors doing the same thing. I didn't realize it until later, but all these pastors were preaching the "prosperity gospel."

Around 1998 or so, I bought a bible for my wife. It was the "Woman thou art loosed" bible by T.D. Jakes. Since that time, my wife has taken that bible with her to a couple conferences in Canada, and elsewhere.she has even had it with her on a couple previous occasions when she has been in the hospital. Now that bible is starting to come apart. I shared with her the other day that I wish I had a bible that I had used as much as she has hers.

I guess one of the biggest problems I have with certain twlevision pastors is that they take verses out of context. When I read, I ask questions like who is writing this? to whom is it bein writen to? What are the circumstances surrounding what is bein writen? And i just don't see a lot of that in most of today's telwvision pastors. They all aeem to have their own agenda.

I'm not religious. But I like the King James Bible. It sounds like Shakespeare. All the modern versions sound dumbed down in comparison.
