Do you think I was mean for telling my sister that her friend’s breakdown isn’t my problem?

So my older sister hasn’t heard from her best friend in a week she last heard from her was last Tuesday. She has called and texted. She was having some mental breakdown. She was telling me about it and I just looked at her and said, “So what do you want me to do about it? That isn’t my problem. Just wait until she messages back. I’m sure she’ll text back.”
I know it sounds mean but I have my own problems to worry about. I am 17 and got to worry about my upcoming senior year of high school.

She needed someone to share and discuss what she is concerned about, if you can't help out, you can at least be a good listener.

@ABCDEF7 I don’t know anything about mental breakdown I’m just a kid. Even our dad told her that he doesn’t know what to tell her and then just wait till she replies back. He isn’t a synthetic person. Neither an I.

@MissyMoo04 You don't need to know anything to listen.

Being unsympathetic is not you qualification that you should flaunt or make an excuse of. It's up to you how you chooses to interact with others. No other one is pushing you to do so.

Does unsympathetic mean also not expecting sympathy.?
