@calicuz anything before 25? like drinks or napkins?
calicuz · 56-60, M
@itsok

Yes, pre-made desserts would be appropriate.
itsok · 31-35, F
@calicuz that’s what I’m thinking too. Early 20s something you didn’t make, 25+ needs to bring a dish

Punxi · F
I've a very small family. Six including myself. All my life I've had Thanksgiving dinner at my parents house...helping along with my sister, my mom cook.

This year, my father havin' passed; we're getting together at my house since my mom has been staying with me.

I've invited my neighbor..

.And please don't take this crooked...I'm happy to feed them all.

I can see your side...perhaps havin more of a full table....so I'd say who evers old enough to.

🫣
itsok · 31-35, F
@Punxi we always have around 20. My dad usually does the main dishes and a few of his favorites, and then everyone else brings a side dish or dessert
BlueVeins · 26-30
You know this thanksgiving will actually be the first one where I've actually cooked something up to bring there. And also it's gonna be only for me lol. The cabins we stay in don't have a big enough kitchen for 2 cooks but this time we have an extra cabin. (:
Thatsright · 61-69, M
Some younger folks don’t know.
Their parents provided through their twenties into their thirties.
Provide a list via email or text what side dishes you want people to bring and let them sign up for it.
Or assign.
It doesn’t have to be confrontational.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
We’ve hosted the last few years so did the main dishes. I started bringing/making desserts when I was a teenager though.

I can honestly say we never have to worry about free loaders. People in my family love to cook and eat lmao
I'd say the age of legal adulthood, 21, is the age at which someone can be expected to prepare a dish for Thanksgiving. Can be simple - roasted sweet potatoes or a simple kind of pie in a store bought crust.
Reject · 31-35, M
That’s a fascinating question. I only ever went to thanksgiving when I was a kid so I never had to worry about it.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
I’d say as soon as you’re no longer live with mom and dad because if you’re living with mom and dad, then when you go to someone’s place for dinner, you’re going to bring something from your entire family to the dinner
Pfuzylogic · M
On your own and 21 except I have freeloaded later since no one in my young family cooked that well.
Thatsright · 61-69, M
@Pfuzylogic Bring booze, paper plates, stuff like that.
Thatsright · 61-69, M
@Pfuzylogic Ask first.
4meAndyou · F
Old enough to vote, old enough to remember to bring something...even if it's just a hostess gift.
I have no clue about Thanksgiving practices. We don't celebrate that here. 😅
itsok · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato I guess any holiday where everyone brings a dish to eat together
@itsok we don't have any of those 😌
AuRevoir · 36-40, M
I always bring an extra freeloader so idk how this could possibly be misconstrued by anyone.. 🤔
I think 20 is an appropriate age to start bringing a dish to contribute to the festivities.
Old enough to be invited over and have ability
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
I would say 18 lol.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
icedsky · 51-55, M
Old enough to drive over for dinner old enough to bring something.
itsok · 31-35, F
@icedsky she’s getting EVERYTHING. And I’m gonna make everyone watch her eat
icedsky · 51-55, M
@itsok She will be a happy possum. Make sure she's got a nap spot reserved.
itsok · 31-35, F
@icedsky I’ll wear a shirt big enough for her to nap in
Classified · M
My age + 1 😯
Selah ·
Lmaooo I think if you make money you can make a dish. Every other able bodied person can help cook or clean.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
My family you were told. you bring this you bring that...age had nothing to do with it
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@itsok Adults, we didn't make kids bring stuff.. lol
itsok · 31-35, F
@FreeSpirit1 so 18? 21? 25?
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@itsok 18
BobbyMoeven · 100+, M
🙄

You're supposed to bring something?
itsok · 31-35, F
Whatever age is yours and not mine
itsok · 31-35, F
@SinlessOnslaught account reported for being underage
@itsok
I don't even bring myself.
@NudasPriest the fact y'all don't celebrate it, helps
BobbyMoeven · 100+, M
@itsok

Ok..

I will bring the dancing turkey game ...

Now guess what dance it is...
itsok · 31-35, F
@BobbyMoeven your wife asked me to make this post
BobbyMoeven · 100+, M
@itsok

can i bring my 50 something y/o canadian butt and freeload? i'll bring my own booze though...
itsok · 31-35, F
@beermeplease if you bring alcohol, you have to bring enough for everyone
@itsok ok no problem...give me the list so i know how much and what to bring 🤪
If you’re old enough to pick something up at the store.
is a plastic jug of Pepsi OK?
itsok · 31-35, F
@StygianKohlrabi if you don’t like to cook, wine is a good choice, or a premade dessert.
If you have a side dish or dessert you enjoy making, that’s always good. I’d stay away from things that would be considered main entrees. Desserts or sides if you’re not hosting.
@itsok Hoho cake 😏
itsok · 31-35, F
@StygianKohlrabi I would be so ridiculously happy if someone showed up with a snack cake train
empanadas · 31-35, M
Im a freeloader and proud
itsok · 31-35, F
@Younameit that’s what I’m thinking too. Or you get a few years in the early 20s to bring something besides a food you made
itsok · 31-35, F
@RosaMarie those 5 year olds can bring SOMETHING
