I’m bored. Can one of you explain to me what Thanksgiving is? I’d it just a warm up Christmas? Without presents?

Thanksgiving is when our extended family gets together and prepares really great food and all hangs out in the kitchen and stuff. Board games will be played, puzzles solved, and beverages consumed. With luck it all lasts for 2 or 3 days with great breakfasts, great leftovers, etc.

Yeah, sometime in the past there was some colonial & religious connection, but that's all irrelevant now. The cool thing about Thanksgiving is nobody has found a way to really commercialize it. Just people who love each other hanging out!

@ElwoodBlues Seems like a Christmas dress rehearsal.
@Morvoren Very different from Xmas. No pressure to spend money, no worries about "is my gift-giving fair," no church to attend or hymns to sing or saviors to be praised or religious preferences to consider. Completely non-commercial, I don't know if I can adequately convey what it means when you're not bombarded with "spend more money" propaganda for the preceding month. Don't get me wrong, I like Xmas and I like giving gifts (more than receiving, I've reached that age), but I could do with a whole lot less corporate and religious involvement.
