So a week is a symbolic representation of the 6 days of creation and one day of rest :) And people started to follow different variants of this symbolism, if I understood correctly. Atleast that motivated people to take a break :) - as long as people practise it as a means to refresh, have fun and relax, rather than to make the rules too rigid that prison sounds better :)
