@Elessar an insect that decimated vineyards anyway ... now that insect is around the globe, so in most vineyards where conditions are favorable to the insect, any Eurasian species vines have be grafted onto the roots of North American species, or the vineyard will eventually succumb to the pest
It was another great moment in taking non-native plants to other parts of the world ... what could go wrong ... 🤦♀️

Incidentally, after the French vineyards in particular recovered, the winemakers jumped on the anti-absinthe bandwagon to restore their sales levels, helping to get absinthe banned
