How do I get more people to come to the parties I throw?

How do I get more people to come? I just had my birthday party and I invited 10 people. Only one girl showed up while i cleaned everything up. I gave them two months notice I called them a day before the party to remind them tomorrow is my birthday party I had it on the weekend and i reminded them there will be free food. It makes me feel like no one cares about me my parents have to travel alot for work so they were not there it was just me and my husband, i even found a sitter for my son cooked all this food. When i called each guest during a party some didnt answer three of them were sick one of them her husband pulled his back out and the others said they forgot.

Impossible to tell whether they rejected you personally or are maybe fairweather associations rather than what you could really call friends.

And if you didn't get apologise from non attendees then I doubt they're in the friends category in the first place.

Sorry it was such a disappointment.
But at least for future reference you now know to treat yourself rather than try and cater to others.
