How do I get more people to come to the parties I throw?

How do I get more people to come? I just had my birthday party and I invited 10 people. Only one girl showed up while i cleaned everything up. I gave them two months notice I called them a day before the party to remind them tomorrow is my birthday party I had it on the weekend and i reminded them there will be free food. It makes me feel like no one cares about me my parents have to travel alot for work so they were not there it was just me and my husband, i even found a sitter for my son cooked all this food. When i called each guest during a party some didnt answer three of them were sick one of them her husband pulled his back out and the others said they forgot.

Birthday parties are tricky. If you are going to go, you have to bring a present, which a lot of people don't want to make the time to buy, so they make excuses not to come. It isn't really about you personally as they would act this same way with any party they were invited to.
A lot of people prefer their privacy I guess.
Sorry they didn't show up though, that does hurt feelings. I had the same thing happen to one of my parties once, but I had fun anyways.

@PoohSmasher yea I tried to have fun too. I dont need presents the best present they can give me is their time. I make it clear that I am not expecting gifts.
