The voice of maturity: Parties are for those who are desperate for some kind of validation...

I got called "childish" by a girl at work because I was saying how I hate gong to parties and those type of social gatherings. A guy who was sitting with us, about our age, nodded in agreement with a sanctimonious grin on his face and put his condescending hand on my shoulder and said, "You will learn that parties are the way into a woman's heart because its an easy set-up to socialize with them." The girl pretended to be offended by his remark, but I could tell she agreed with him. I backed off and changed the topic to a work-related issue, but I resented that kind of lecture from 2 clowns with an axe to grind. I resent it even more now. Besides, as it turns out, parties are the worst way to meet anyone on honest terms because everyone is literally putting on a show as though they were interviewing for a job.

Parties are all about a performance for people who are still desperate for validation as a carryover from middle school. And that's maturity, not childishness, speaking.
