It’s almost Monday

It’ll be a long week ahead. My colleague is getting married and I don’t have a date. They kept bringing up that I should go out and meet people. Easier said than done.

I think it would be far worse to bring someone you barely know to a wedding than it would to turn up on your own.

@helsbels Maybe but I’m the only one there without a date. Most of my colleagues are married already.

@Menetics The way I see it, they're not bringing dates, they're bringing partners. Don't bring a guy (or girl) for the sole purpose of bringing someone. I get it may feel awkward, but you at least will know other people there. A date, unless it's someone you have been out with at least several times before would be a bad idea, in my opinion.

@helsbels You’re right! Thank you :) I have someone in mind but I rather let him stay in the past.

@helsbels Exactly! I think this idea of bringing "dates" to weddings is ridiculous.

@Fluffybull It's one of those clichès that only seems to exist to me in relation to US tv shows and rom coms, the same way everyone is always obsessed with 'making partner' at the company 🤣

@helsbels Hollywood does have a huge influence on people’s lives. They create unrealistic expectations in people’s heads.
