Celebrating 250 Years In One Month!

I am excited to be celebrating 250 years of the birth of the United States of America. I remember being 12 years old and all the excitement for the Bicentennial, and to think that I would be around 50 years later to celebrate the Semiquincentennial is amazing.

As Americans celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, there is a unique opportunity to step beyond politics and reflect with gratitude on the remarkable story of our nation. Regardless of political views or differences, this anniversary reminds us of the bold and extraordinary experiment launched in 1776—a nation founded upon the conviction that all people are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The Declaration of Independence was more than a political document; it was a profound statement of human dignity, freedom, and dependence upon divine providence.

For 250 years, the American experiment has endured through triumphs, hardships, wars, revivals, and seasons of division. Though imperfect, the United States has remained a beacon of liberty and self-government unlike any nation in history. This anniversary invites us to remember the courage, sacrifice, faith, and vision of those who came before us, while also renewing our appreciation for the blessings and responsibilities of freedom. It is fitting that we celebrate not only the founding of a nation, but also the providential hand of God that has guided and sustained it across the centuries.
