You may know JMW Turner as a brilliant painter of dramatic, almost abstract seascapes, that he characterized as studies in light. He was a 19th century artists with very modern techniques. Brilliant—and if you can ever see his work in person you should.
But he also loved the female form and produced quite a private collection of paintings and drawings of nude women. Here are two examples along with a landscape (Light and Color, 1843) that I now see in a different light.
