How do you feel when an artist doesn't interact with their audience during a concert?

I've always liked seeing bands or artists banter with the audience in between songs during their performances. I feel it shows a connection with their fans and that they're having fun as well. But when they go out there and don't do so much as a greeting or a "thank you" when given applause, it just seems like they're out there to just get their show over with; there to clock in and clock out without seeming to actually enjoy it. One could argue that at the end of the day, that's all they're there to do anyway, sure. But you can't tell me it doesn't make for a greater stage presence when they're interacting with their audience and getting the crowd hyped up during their concerts.

I’ve seen Megadeth several times. They’re a different band when they’re headlining versus opening. When heading, Dave engages the crowd and it’s pretty much what you expect. When opening, I’ve seen him become a shoe gazer who just cranks through the setlist and leaves.

Saw Leona Lewis in Brighton after she won the Xfactor. She simply could not be bothered.

Yet, another time I saw Elvis Costello on a pre tour practice gig , in a little known venue. And he was out of this world.

Saying something to all is great but I draw the line at trying to drag someone on the stage or turning to random singled out people in the audience. I hate that.

@CrazyMusicLover I agree. More often than not, it's rather cringe.

@Ducky It's always someone who wants to be left alone or worse, has enough to do to contain their social anxiety to be on a show at all.

I saw a video of The Who in concert and I don't think they said a word that wasn't a song lyric, didn't even introduce the songs.

No interaction is better than “good night Detroit !”, when you’re in Cleveland lol

I could have saved the money and played the album at home...

It's a break of the contract.
