There was a 21st birthday boy at the bar tonight

Before I left, I told the bartender to put whatever he wanted for his next drink on my tab. I’m 31 now and ten years ago, I had my 21st birthday in that very bar where I got shitfaced for the first time. But I do remember random strangers buying me drinks just for the hell of it. It was probably only because I was an attractive young woman, lol. But still, that made it a memorable 21st birthday for me. Why not be one of those strangers who celebrates someone else’s 21st birthday just for the hell of it by buying them a drink? I kinda wish I stayed a bit longer to wish him a happy birthday. Especially since he reminded me of me. He was a lot quieter when he came in but after a few drinks, he became a lot more open and talkative, just like how I get. Come to think of it, that’s what sold me in deciding “I gotta buy this kid a drink.” Just hope I contributed to him looking back fondly on his 21st birthday.
