An April Fool's memory from the Seventh Grade

Our social studies teacher wrote the assignment on the board. We were to tune in to any of the major networks that evening to watch an interview with General Loof Lirpa, in which he would discuss the Vietnam War.

Yes, I fell for it.

Ah, in my town, back in the 60s, the local newspaper published an article with a photo of an ocean liner sailing down the Main Street. The accompanying article explained this was because Scandinavians discovered our town, at least. The name of the ship was The Loof Lirpa.

@Mamapolo2016 You shouldn't have fallen for that. "Loof Lirpa" is obviously not a Scandinavian name -- it's clearly Vietnamese!!!!
@DrWatson We we’re a small town, and naive.

We had a pretty good april fools joke in swedish papers once where the same guy was shown in 4 different articles, in each article declaring he had a baby with a different woman, which were conceived during a pretty wild weekend.
